She rolled her eyes and smiled. “I know! But you saw her when she was all new and tiny and such. Now she’s all chubby and can actually do things more than cry.” Hannah said with a little laugh. Maisie was a sweet kid, no matter how much Hannah got annoyed with her. Even with the constant regret she felt gnawing at her stomach, it was enough to just love her daughter to pieces. “Yeah, she definitely gets that from me.” Hannah crinkled up her nose and let out a soft laugh. Her freckles had always been a source of insecurity as a child, but as she got older, Hannah learned to not hate them so much. Seeing her daughter with them though was practically the cutest thing she’s ever seen.

Hannah blushed at his compliment though, cuddling into him closer. “You’re going to turn me into a tomato.” she laughed softly, letting him kiss her nose before she slowly tilted her head to reach his lips, capturing them in a soft kiss. She couldn’t resist, and even though she knew it was bad, she couldn’t help it. Hannah just wanted him there, always. It wasn’t fair that there was so much keeping them apart.

Cormac smirked knowingly. “Well if she wears those freckles half as good as you do when she gets older, Uncle Cormy will have to start beating the boys off with a stick” he joked, still smirking as he pushed Hannah over and cuddle-tackled her, blowing a raspberry into her neck just for shits and giggles.

“Oh, that’s fine” he said laughing, amazed that his nausea had completely subsided. “I love tomatoes” he said, blowing another raspberry into the other side of Hannah’s neck. “But if you keep blushing like that, I may have to just start calling you Tomato” he commented, hovering over her as he watched her face flush a charming rosy colour.

Yeah, I’ve sorta been doing some thinking. Better now though…

Thinking? Erm… ‘bout what?

Mallory laughed, shaking her head slightly. “That was only me being a bitch and trying to get all that out of you,” she said. It was low, even for her, but it worked, didn’t it? “How’s your father, by the way?” she asked, attempting at being nonchalant. She had the right to care about something of that nature, right?

She kept her facial expressions in check while he began, but her mind on the other hand, was near pissed off. There was just way too many fucking things wrong with that equation. First off, Hannah was with Ron. Not Cormac nor Draco. Secondly, the evening they broke up? That was shitty, but that didn’t bother her as much as the first. Thirdly, Hannah had a fucking child. Lovely mother you are, she thought to herself. And lastly, the disgust she felt. Two words she had for Ms. Abbott? Sloppy seconds. At one point in time, Mallory did have respect for Hannah. Having a child in her fifth year was definitely something. And the fact that she didn’t let people get to her, it was beyond amazing. But now? All Mallory felt toward the Hufflepuff was distaste.

“So let me get this straight.. Hannah’s cheated on Ron with both you and Draco. And now she’s cheating on you with Draco. And you want to punch Draco’s face in because you’re jealous of him - but wait, that would also mean you’re semi-jealous of Ronald..” Mallory paused, going over what she’d said in her head once more. “Shit, Gryffindor, what the hell did you get yourself into?”

Cormac gave a little shrug regarding his father. “He’s making progress actually. I heard a couple of days ago that he started breathing on his own, and that’s a really good sign” he informed Mallory. “The healers say that they have a few potions they can administer that will hopefully help his recovery and get him to wake up sooner” he added with a little smile. It was really nice to not have to worry as much about his dad anymore. And the fact of the matter was that he was making steps in the right direction — he was slowly but surely recovering.

Cormac narrowed his eyes and let out a heavy sigh as Mallory tried to understand everything he had just told her. “No.” he said firmly, shaking his head vehemently. “No, I am not jealous. Of either of the little fucks. You can’t be jealous of someone you’re far better than” he said, clenching his jaw. “I just… want to beat Malfoy’s face in because he’s an entitled, self-righteous little prick” he explained slowly as he clenched his fists, venom in his words. He had used up most of the big words he knew in that one sentence just because he was so mad.

“But yeah. Don’t start in on me, Mall” he said with another sigh, letting his muscles relax and leaning back into the couch. “I know. I’m in quite a fucking predicament.” he agreed. He brought his hands to his face and rubbed at his cheeks for a moment before sliding his fingers back through his messy hair. “And I have no fucking idea what I’m going to do.” he finished, looking back over at Mallory.

She shook her head, not caring what his breath smelt like at all. It really didn’t matter to her, to be perfectly honest. Just being able to sit there, kiss him, be with him, know that he needed her in a sense. It was all she needed to be happy for that moment in time. “Don’t worry about it. I really don’t mind.” she pecked his lips softly one last time before she relaxed in against him, just enjoying the perfect moment for exactly what it was.

Hannah lifted her head a little, wondering if the Room of Requirement really could transfer people into there. She figured not, and was actually rather relieved when the baby didn’t appear. It wasn’t that Hannah didn’t want to see her or didn’t miss her or anything. It was just that Hannah wanted this moment alone with Cormac to enjoy the fact that with him she had no responsibilities, no fears, no commitments. Even though she really would have loved to have a commitment with him, they hadn’t really gone that far as to what they were doing yet, so she wasn’t about to ask. “Well I know she misses you too, so you really should come by some time and see her. She’s got these huge blue eyes and a few little freckles. She looks mostly like me, actually. Aside from the ginger hair. I guess my dads genes really shined through there. And, well, Ron’s too.” she shrugged, trying her hardest not to mention his name.

Cormac gave a weary chuckle. “I know what your baby looks like. I /have/ met the kid, you know” he said slightly sarcastically. “Though the freckles sound like a new development” he added, trying to remember if Maisie had started showing freckles the last time he had seen her. He didn’t think so. It was weird, though. Since he had first met the baby, he had felt an almost instantaneous connection. It wasn’t like Cormac was dying to be a father, but in some weird way, he almost wished Maisie was his own. Maybe it was just because she was the first baby he hadn’t been terrified of since his mother had passed.

“Besides, you don’t think I noticed she looks exactly like you?” he added, looking over at Hannah. “No wonder she’s the most adorable kid I’ve ever laid eyes on” he said, smirking. At that, he leaned in and gave Hannah another little peck on the nose.

Yeah…I’m fine. Perfectly fine. Why do you ask?

I don’t know, you just seemed a bit out of it. Thought I’d ask. Glad you’re fine, though.

The way he deepened the kiss sent so many more shivers down her spine. She couldn’t help but arch up into him in just the slightest, wanting the small distance of their bodies to be close to none. She felt his tongue move against hers, and she slight efforts to deepen it herself. As she heard his soft voice, she let out a little giggle that was almost foreign to her own ears. “You taste like shit.” she said with a little smirk, referencing the potion he had ingested.

As he pulled back, it felt all too soon, but she knew he was probably tired and rather worn out, and she didn’t want to push him too far. It wasn’t like she necessarily could either. She had a boyfriend, and she had a kid. And that alone was already a little bit terrifying. Hannah was cheating just by laying here with her best friend, kissing him and touching him, slowly and without even noticing, falling deeper for him than she had ever even imagined. As she looked at him, she saw the little flicker of something that she couldn’t ignore. It ignited something in her that burned like a sun, just wanting to burst out of her, but as usually she willed it back. “I missed you too.” she said, curling up closer into him, wrapping a leg around his own. “Maiz misses you too. You should come and see her when you’re feeling better. She’s getting so big.” Hannah said quietly.

Cormac chuckled quietly, rolling his eyes. “Sorry Hans” he said genuinely. He was used to the vile taste that still lingered in his mouth by now, so he hadn’t even thought of it before kissing Hannah. He wished there were breathmints around. And Oh ho ho right as he wished it BAM, mints appeared right beside him and he emptied the whole tin into his mouth and yep now his breath is just fine COOL.

“Too bad the Room of Requirement isn’t more powerful. Otherwise I /could/ just say that I wished Maisie were here so I could say hello” he said aloud, actually wondering if the little ginger baby thing would appear. As he expected, she didn’t. And all the better for it too, since he wasn’t really up to playing with a baby. He still hurt all over, and he didn’t really feel like trying to get the kid back to sleep anyway. “But that sounds like a plan. I miss the little rascal, too” he finished, remembering the last time he had seen her with a grin. He remembered feeling so completely at ease with her, despite his previous fear of babies. It had been uncanny, the way she had fit right into his arms.

Mallory & Cormac || Friend-Zone —

mallory-twiddle:

Mallory studied his face closely for a moment, waiting on some burst of feelings she expected to feel the moment she saw him - but they never came. This didn’t mean she hadn’t missed him - she had - but not in the way she assumed she would. The friendship was what she missed about him, and the friendship alone. This all being sorted out in her mind in a matter of seconds, she glanced around, finding a few new additions to the place. More lighting, for starters, but there on the opposite side of the room was a replica of the sofa he’d had. That is, before he’d destroyed it.

“I know what you’re doing, McLaggen, and I’m not letting it happen. I’ve been lovely, but let’s get down to business,” she said in a mock-stern voice. Clearly the topic was something likely to make them both uncomfortable, but that wasn’t the major issue at hand. He needed her help to get over something - whatever the hell that may be - and she was ready to do it. It’s what friends are for, right?

Cormac narrowed his eyes and leaned up against the arm of the couch, folding his legs underneath him. “Fine.” he sighed. “But only if you promise to tell me what kinds of rumours are flying in the dungeons” he negotiated. He sighed again and stretched his arms out wide, leaning his head back slightly before speaking.

“Okay, so. I’ve been kind of… seeing Hannah” he admitted. “Since the night you and I broke up. We kind of had sex. Well, not kind of. We did.” he elaborated. Not that the sex part was a surprising piece of information coming from him, he was aware. “But I mean. It’s more than just sex. There are definitely, erm. Feelings.” he added, pressing his lips together. This really was not the kind of thing to be discussing with an ex girlfriend. It was weird. It wasn’t like there were really any lingering feelings between them. It was just awkward. “But, um. I heard from a reliable source that she’s meeting up with Draco tonight. And, well. You know that can only mean one thing” he finished, gritting his teeth as he felt his fingers clench up into fists. “I don’t know, it just…. it kind of sucks” he added, dropping his gaze to the floor.

She felt his hands move behind her and hold her head, and she couldn’t fight the smile and blush that was suddenly permanent on her face. It was hard not to smile when Cormac touched her, looked at her, or even smiled at her what that stupid little grin of his. That grin that somehow managed to drive her wild. Hannah bit at her lip for a moment before bringing him in closer to her, their bodies pressed together lightly in a more than comfortable embrace. She looked up into his eyes, the way they glistened in the dim light of the room, the smile faltered for just a moment as she waited for his lips to connect with hers, and as they finally did, her eyes shut slowly, enjoying the moment and basking in the way it felt so magical.

Cormac let out a breath before deepening the kiss ever so slightly, parting her lips with his tongue and letting it slip briefly into her mouth. “You taste like raspberries” he mumbled with a smirk as he broke away, his fingers still tangled into her hair.

“I missed you these past few days” he admitted as he took back his hand and laid back down, staring up at the ceiling. And he had. The way they had always been so comfortable together, how their conversations and movements had always just flowed so easily. How her scent carried itself to his nostrils, and had a way of calming his nerves. Her carefree smile and ever-present sense of humour. He had missed it all, even though it had only been a few days.
